I used to use the sleep cycle app when I first got my iPhone because I loved sleeping and worried I’d spent too much time sleeping. On average I get about 9 hours of sleep a night! That’s quite a lot of sleep.
Since we moved back up North, we’ve been staying at my Mums but my ability to sleep has completely gone out the window. The first thing to point out is that our sleeping ‘routine’ has changed. As Ryan is commuting to work right now he’s up at 5:30-6am and going to bed about 9:30-10pm which means that I go to bed when he does and wake up, kiss him goodbye and fall back to sleep after already being awake half the night.
It’s been pretty exhausting and no matter how much fresh air and exercise I’ve been getting I haven’t slept through the night since we moved here 3 weeks ago.
I decided to re-download sleep cycle as it’s free and give it another go to see how I’m sleeping.
Well the above picture, of last nights sleep is a total lie. I woke up at 2:45am after going to bed at 10:30. I stayed awake until 5am but because I only left the bed twice between 3 & 4am and didn’t overly toss and turn it hasn’t picked it up!
It also hasn’t picked up that I was awake at 6am and rolled around the bed for a good solid 20 minutes. When your hot water bottle is actually another human being it takes a while before you can get warm again.
Overall, if I hadn’t been so aware of last nights lack of sleep I would have totally recommend this app and sang it’s praises, now I’m not so sure. I think I’m going to give it the rest of the week and see how it goes.
