Plymouth We Love You!

September 11, 2013
First I just want to say happy birthday Laura! I miss you and hope you a super happy day today!
Today marks the start of our fifth year living in Plymouth. I can’t believe that we’re about to spend out fifth year here. It certainly has not been easy, it has been the hardest four years we’ve had in some aspects and in others, completely the best.
When we first moved here in 2009 we were just 24, we’d been together for 3 years and this was the first time we were going to be living together. No other house mates, no parents just the two of us.
Honestly to start with it was really hard, we’d never spent such vast quantities of time together as you do when you live with someone. The first few months we argued a lot. About silly household chores because we were adjusting to living together and we were so homesick.
We were so far from home 376 miles, the furthest I’d ever been except for holidays and I struggled to make friends. We were both so home sick we were glad to go home for Christmas that year. Then a few months later in February 2010 my Dad passed away which was a shock and pretty hard for us both. While we started rethinking our decision about moving so far away from home, we came to Plymouth so Ryan could attend Plymouth University to study Ocean Yachting and next week he will be graduating. So no matter how hard these years have been there are no regrets and in the end it has totally been worth it for Ryan achieving a 2:1.
Although we both love Plymouth, it’s been a great place for us to grow together I’m not sure if we’ll still be here in another 5 years but either way Plymouth will always have a special place in our hearts.
Some of my favourite posts while we’ve been here:
We got Evie, we shared our engagement, we added another addition to our fur babies, I talked about losing my Dad 2.5 years on, some amazing fireworks on the Hoe.
