The Year

  • Goodbye 2014!

I keep putting this off, mostly because I don’t want to say goodbye to 2014! 2014 has been an epic year and well I’m worried 2015 just won’t be as good no matter what plans I make for the year.

In February I turned 28 and Ryan got a promotion and we left Plymouth.

In March we moved into our first house in Hull and had our first over night guest and saw Captain America: Winter Solider.

In April I dyed my hair red, we got our landlord to get us a new cooker, our kitchen floor had to be fixed and I cooked Sunday dinner for my Mum and her husband when they came to visit and the bunnies finally started to settle in.

    This is our sofa humans!

In May we explored the docks in Hull, my best friend came to visit, we re-did the garden with help from my Mum, we hard the plumber check to see if we had a leak and ended with a whole in the bunnies room for a while.

In June I wrote my 101 things in 1001 days list, we celebrated Ryan’s 28th birthday, our wall got fixed, we planted grass seeds for our garden, I created a summer TBR list and hardly read any of them and I cooked a lot.

In July Ryan had holiday so we visited Hull’s Art Museum and Hull’s Maritime Museum, we also visited East Park and it’s amazing animals. Ryan got a bike and I started doing the low-fod map diet and I had  lot of interviews.

In August we nearly finished our photo wall, I had a lot more interviews and finally got a job that wasn’t in retail. I cut off four inches of my hair and loved it.

In September we got the bunnies a playpen, I got seriously sick, we celebrated my Mum’s birthday and I rearranged my book room and we saw Guardians of the Galaxy.

In October we had some holiday time and went to visit family before my friend had her baby boy and to look at some wedding venues. Also Ryan’s Dad and Step-Mum came to visit.

In November I finally got better, tried to de-clutter a lot and sell some things on ebay, moved my book room back and re-arranged it again and set-up my Dad’s desk which was an early Christmas present from my Mum. We put all our tree’s up at the end of November and tried very hard to get into the festive mood.

In December my best friend finally had her baby two weeks late and nearly 48 hours later little dude was born weighing a massive 8lbs 13oz! Not in the mood for Christmas this year I handmade as many presents as I could and went to visit my best friend, little dude and my family just a few days before Christmas! P.S. This is me holding little dude at exactly two weeks old!

Thanks 2014 for being one of the best years I’ve had in a very long time! xo

  • The Year: 2013

    2013
I needed a bit of a space from the end of 2013, after working so much during November and December I wanted to clear my head, relax and recoup.
2013 wasn’t a bad year, my family came to visit, Ryan graduated Plymouth University with a 2:1, most of his family that was able came to celebrate this special day with us. The ones that didn’t came and surprised us during November to see Plymouth’s fireworks for Bonfire night. Healthy, happy bunnies.
But it wasn’t a great year either, family dramas, a consistent leak every time there was heavy rain, financial struggles, friendship dramas and a big lack of hours at work.
While every year has it’s ups and downs I was happy to see the back of 2013 and although I’m writing this 18 days into 2014 I think it’s going to be a better year by far.
I’m happy to dust my hands off from 2013 and start fresh with 2014, I hope you are too!

P.S. I had to be really mean and only pick 6 pictures this year otherwise there would be a 100 or so to sum up 2013 but I think the pictures I chose really showed what 2013 was about.

  • The Year in Review…

When I think back on 2012 it just keeps whirling in my head that I didn’t meet the goals I personally wanted to achieve. Maybe I set the bar too high or maybe I didn’t push myself as hard as I should have to meet them. Both could be true. Yet when I see it written down 2012 wasn’t that much as a disappointment as I first thought. 2012 really has become a stepping stone in my eyes, it’s been a great place for my life to truly kick start now I know what direction I’m headed in and I’m hoping that 2013 will follow through being just as great with the rest of my plans as 2012 has been. I’m excited for these new changes 2013 will bring and although I will be sad with some of them, I can’t help but want to embrace them because it will mean a better future for Ryan and I and it will also bring us closer to reaching our goal of getting married in 2015!

In February I turned 26got engaged & got a permanent position at Paperchase!
In March I did an open course with The Open University with mixed results.
In April we added a new addition to the family.
In May Ryan & I finally took a mini holiday to catch up with an old friend and his girlfriend and they took us to Dumbleton Hall Hotel as an engagement gift.
In June we popped back up North for my Mum’s wedding and celebrated Ryan’s birthday too!
In August I participated in the August Break and shared my collection of journals.
I also talked about what Papa T would have missed this year.
In September we looked around our first and possible wedding venue!
In December I participated in Blogmas and talked about trying on my first wedding dress, Oscar and Evie fell in love and started sharing the same cage, finally! I went on my work night out and forgot to mention it never mind blog about it! And our fire alarm went off twice in just a few days before Christmas making me really cranky. I also cooked my first Christmas dinner, with much success!

In 2013 I’m excited to celebrate 8 years together with Ryan, to have a full week off work with zero plans! For Ryan to graduate from Plymouth University, my Mum and her husband to come and visit, to attend one of my dearest’s friends wedding, to pop back up North to visit both our families.
I’m sure there will be many other things I’ll be excited for but these are the main ones we already have planned out for 2013.

  • The Year in Photos Part 1…

I haven’t blogged as I would have liked to during 2012 but I guess I was still just finding my feet and voice for this little space of mine. I think this year in photo’s might not make much sense to others because I didn’t actually post much about what happened in 2012 as I have in these pictures. For example that little orange teapot is breakfast with Ryan’s family for Ryan’s birthday. There’s the only picture I’ve posted of my Mum’s wedding also in June. Evie on a hot water bottle because she got sick, Oscar’s first bath and such on, all taken with my trusty iphone 4s.

  • 2011 Year in Review

It’s so strange to think how things can change and be so different in just a year. When actually you say it’s a year gone doesn’t seem all that long but when you say 365 days it seems so much longer. At least to me. These past few years (since 2009 really) so much has changed and I know for a fact 2012 will be bringing a whole new lot of changes with it too. Sometimes if I think of these changes to come too much I scare myself and start to worry and panic and then annoy myself because although there may be a few changes next year they’ll all be spread out through the 365 days and not all just in one day so I need to stop over thinking things and take each moment as it comes.

So I thought I’d share some memories from 2011 that I’ve valued and enjoyed. Because it always feels like you remember the negative more than the positive and I want to fondly remember 2011.

    Became addicted to J.D Robb!

    Having a brilliant 25th birthday!
Finally met Zoe and visited Bath all in the same day! (Roman Baths and Jane Austen Centre)
My boyfriend’s youngest brother came to visit! (Reading on the Hoe)
My Mum and her partner came to visit. We explored a lot of Plymouth and ate a lot of good food while they were with us for four days. (At Wet Wok)
    We got Evie!!!
I got addicted again to Filofax’s!
    Remembrance Day Parade
    Ate some good food!
    Read some awesome books!
Had our very own first Christmas, just the guy and I.

    Some Extras:-
    Having my last counselling session!
A year since my Dad died.

My Mum and her partner getting engaged.
Buying a Kindle. And loving it!

    Getting extremely bad sunburn!
Some great films came out: Captain America, Transforms 3, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Sherlock Holmes: The Game of Shadows.Upgrading from my useless blackberry to an iPhone!
Getting a Christmas Temp job at Paperchase!
My boyfriend’s Mum and Step-Dad coming to visit.
Having our very first Christmas together!! It’s so good I had to mention it twice.

Overall 2011 has been an interesting year and I wish there was one word to sum it up but there wasn’t! There have been many changes and I really think I’ve grown a lot in this year and I’m excited and yet ambivalent at times to what 2012 will bring I only hope that 2012 will bring great things and be a much more positive year.
