Wedding Planning

  • Its’s My Party!

Last Sunday I celebrated my birthday. I was an extremely lucky lady and got lots of lovely gifts. Above are from my sweetheart. I was also lucky enough to get some In Death books, Taylor Swifts new perfume, bath stuff, amazon vouchers, money, a pretty top and a few other bits and pieces.
I met some friends for a coffee in the morning and then we went to The Holiday Inn for their wedding fair, which was really good. It was nice to have some other views about the venue and it was a nice girls day out.

We got an extensive tour of the hotel, that we didn’t receive the first time we went so it was nice to see it all on the whole and see it in a better set up than last years.
We stayed for the bridal show, which really was a little disappointing. There were more outfits for the Mother of the bride than the actual bride or bridesmaids, and most of the bridal dresses were similar in design. Big, floor length style dresses, with some sort of poofy train and the top of the dresses shown were primarily strapless either with lots of diamanté or none. There were no different styles or anything really unique to the styles shown.
In the evening a group of us went to Bella Italia as we had a code for 1/3 off food from voucher cloud. I’ve been twice before, both Christmas meals for work and while I enjoyed the food it was much better this time round even though we did get the table under the stairs near the toilets. It’s always better with a group of friends, I think if we’d gone just alone it wouldn’t have been as good.
It was a really nice birthday all in all!

  • Wedding Ideas

I know everybody and there grandma knows about and has been talking about Pinterest but I’ve found it to be amazingly helpful and useful in gathering ideas for planning our wedding. It’s also really helped me visualise whether or not any of our ideas will work for us and it’s also helped to keep me sane when I have so many ideas floating around in my head.

Here’s my wedding inspiration board if you’re interested!

  • Wedding Planning…

I didn’t mention it but I’ve been really down about planning our wedding because I didn’t know what we/ I wanted. We both agreed we didn’t want a church wedding as we’re not religious and we aren’t big church fans but that was as far as we got. We looked at some really great venues in North Yorkshire when we went back to visit for my Mum’s wedding, but several of them didn’t do an evening do and kicked you out by 5:30pm and once I thought about trying to plan our wedding myself from so far away it just seemed ridiculous. Especially as we only go up and visit once a year. It just seemed really hard even picking a date, when I thought planning your wedding was meant to be fairly easy and fun.

I pushed any wedding related topics to the back of my mind and everyone knew it was a no go area for me and as we picked the end of 2014 it seemed so far away that there seemed to be no point in pushing it when it was all so depressing. Until I saw a sign on a lamppost saying there was a wedding fair in September. Lucky Ryan had the Sunday off and I dragged him with me.

It was great! There were lots of other couples there, and some woman with friends. You got a free ‘goodie’ bag with a wedding magazine and lots of flyers for the people and their businesses and a brochure on the Holiday Inn, where it was all being held. We even got a tour of the Holiday Inn as a possible wedding venue and the view’s were amazing!

It really inspired me and helped me get back into planning our wedding, there were some really great people to talk to about your possible venue, the flowers you’d want, the cake you need, the rings you might want designed, how you can arrive in style to your venue and there were lots of photographers there too. Since visiting there have been several changes to our original plans but I think they’ll work for the better. We are now getting married in 2015, on our ten year anniversary so it’s a really special date for us and we will be getting married in Plymouth! That now means the pressure is definitely on as we need to figure out a budget and think about saving once Ryan graduates and I know for most people they would leave it till a year before but I like to plan a head, be organised and well we really need to work out a budget.

Stay tuned for more wedding related things to come and I highly recommend visiting a wedding fair if one is held near you if you’re planning your wedding, whether you’re stuck for ideas or not!

  • Wedding Inspiration…

We’re currently on day four of our week long holiday and considering that we’re spending today actually looking at wedding venues it seemed like a good idea so share some of my inspiration. Since Ry proposed on the sea front I’ve decided to go with a nautical theme. It’s been really great collecting inspiration to help inspire us what we might want but I’m dreading finally making final decision’s!
